Skills for Justice (part of The Workforce Development Trust) trustee Lisa Winward has received special recognition for her services to policing.

The North Yorkshire Chief Constable, who joined the police in 1994, was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal at her investiture earlier this month.

The medal is awarded to members of the police service in all four nations of the United Kingdom who have a specially distinguished record or who have demonstrated acts of conspicuous merit.

First announced in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2022, Lisa received this recognition for her service, in particular the additional volunteer work she undertakes nationally to support women’s health across the police service.

Having started her career in the Special Constabulary at North Yorkshire Police during her time at University in York, giving up her time on a voluntary basis to work alongside regular police officers.

Lisa then went on to become a regular officer in 1994 with Humberside Police and then transferring to North Yorkshire in 2008, quickly climbing the ranks to take the position of Chief Constable in 2018.
